Amanda Wong
Amanda is a co-founder of the Team HBV Collegiate Chapters. Her relationship with the Jade Ribbon Campaign began in 2002, when she attended the Asian Liver Center’s (ALC) first Youth Leadership Conference. She has since served on the high school Jade Ribbon Youth Council and interned at the ALC. She earned her B.A. in English at Cornell University, where she established Cornell’s chapter of Team HBV. Currently, she is an MPH student in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at the University of California, Berkeley, where she inhales coffee, sunlight and all things Disney.
Francis Deng
Francis, from northern Virginia, is Harvard College ’12, concentrating in Human Developmental and Regenerative Biology with a secondary field in Global Health and Health Policy. He was previously president of Team HBV at Harvard and conducts research related to human embryonic stem cells and pancreatic beta cells under Doug Melton. Francis’ other experiences related to hepatitis B also include interning for a summer at Novartis in Shanghai working on genetics of HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma. In his leisure, Francis enjoys exploring the city, people-watching, and learning about medicine, humanism, and meditation.
Jen Yang
Jen was the former Recruitment & Training adviser on the Team HBV Advisory Board and former Marketing Director of Team HBV at UC Berkeley. Jen graduated from UC Berkeley in 2010 with a degree in Molecular & Cell Biology, emphasizing in Neurobiology, and a Minor in English. She is currently working in the UCSD School of Medicine as a staff research associate studying clinical therapies for Alzheimer’s Disease under Dr. Mark H. Tuszynski. In her spare time, Jen enjoys reading, baking, watching movies and traveling.
Phillip So
Phillip was raised in the Bay Area where he graduated from Stanford University in 2009 with a degree in Human Biology. He has just completed a Masters in Public Health at Emory University where he founded a Team HBV chapter and works with undergraduates to promote HBV awareness both on campus and in the local community. In 2011, he will travel to Beijing to work with the World Health Organization to explore the cost effectiveness of HBV immunoglobulin.

Jonathan Chen
Jonathan’s involvement with the Jade Ribbon Campaign began in 2003 with ALC’s second Youth Leadership Conference. Since then, he has served on the Jade Ribbon Youth Council and interned at the ALC. In 2006, he spent a year in China on the Qinghai Project which vaccinated and educated approximately 50,000 school age children in 331 schools. He earned his B.S. in Physiology and Neuroscience with a minor in Visual Arts at UC San Diego, where he established UCSD’s Team HBV Collegiate Chapter. Currently, he is researching in a nanoengineering lab at UC San Diego.
Christine Sun
Christine grew up in Gaithersburg, MD and currently attends Rice University in Houston, TX. As a senior double majoring in Biochemistry and Asian Studies, Christine devotes much of her time outside of class to conducting research on antibiotic resistance and serving the Rice Chinese Student Association as the current president. By the end of her college career, she hopes to start and maintain Rice University’s first sustainable Team HBV chapter and contribute to a hep-B free world. Her hobbies include rock climbing and playing board games with friends.
