Community Meeting Speaker
We brought in a speaker to talk and spread awareness to the school-wide community about Hepatitis B.
Club Fairs
Club fairs were used to continue to spread awareness about our club and hepatitis B, and to recruit new members.
2012-2013:
Guest Speaker March 18, 2013
This was our first large event of the year and its purpose was to introduce our club and cause to the student body. We invited Judy Liu from the American Liver Foundation to give a talk on Hepatitis B and the effects it has on everyone. We started off by talking about our experience at YLC and then allowed Judy to give the presentation which lasted about 15 to 20 minutes. Because this event took place during a community meeting at our school in which attendance was mandatory, we were able to inform about 450 students as well as adults on the importance of Hepatitis B. This awareness event was very effective because it introduced the widespread effects of HepB which acted as a great segue into why our club was meaningful to the community. Judy did a good job of explaining how HBV does not only affect the API community, but also groups beyond it.
