Agenda ‘09-’10

See below for the planned agenda for Team HBV chapters this year. This is only the bare minimum of what each chapter will do.

September 2009
  • Officially establish Team HBV on campus
  • Recruit core leadership and members
  • Launch the chapter website
  • Hold first meeting
October 2009
  • Conduct a campus-wide knowledge assessment survey targeting all students and faculty to determine the level of HBV and liver cancer awareness
  • Data will be collected for future publication and for the end-of-year chapter evaluation in April
November 2009
  • Organize a community-wide screening of “Another Life”
  • Follow up with a full educational campaign including faculty panel discussions and student focus groups
February 2010
  • Organize a “Break the Silence” speak-out forum for those affected by HBV and liver cancer to share their stories
  • Promote the international Jade Ribbon Campaign by distributing LIVERight bracelets and fundraising for vaccinations in China
March 2010
  • Launch a community-wide letter-writing campaign to policy makers, state and federal legislators to strengthen support for the HBV Bill in Congress
  • Continue to promote the Jade Ribbon Campaign
  • Launch the chapter website
  • Hold first meeting
April 2010
  • Conduct a second campus-wide knowledge assessment survey to determine the new level of HBV and liver cancer awareness
  • Data will be collected and compared to the first survey in October as a method of evaluating the chapter’s effectiveness
  • Elect new officers

    Team HBV, the official chapters of the Asian Liver Center, is dedicated to raising awareness of the disproportionately high incidence of hepatitis B (HBV) and liver cancer among the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community.
