Team HBV at UC Berkeley, along with other chapters across the U.S., is dedicated to raising awareness of the disproportionately high incidence of hepatitis B (HBV) and liver cancer among the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community.
Did you know?

  • 1 in 10 (!!) Asian Americans are infected with Hepatitis B
  • 1/4 of those that have Hepatitis B will die from liver cancer
  • Berkeley requires us to get vaccinated for Hepatitis B, however that just prevents us from contracting it from freshman year on
  • That means if you had it at birth, the vaccination does nothing for you
  • There are NO symptoms, until it is too late!
